Five off-duty career firefighters were among those called to a Peekskill structure fire on Tuesday that left a residence with damage and temporarily displaced several residents.
Firefighters in Peekskill were dispatched at approximately 1 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon to a reported structure fire near the intersection of North James Street and Howard Street. While en route to the fire, officials said that they received several additional calls, prompting the fire chief to bring additional resources to the scene, including the recall of five off-duty firefighters.
Officials said that the fire was held to the area of origin, which prevented any significant damage to the property. No injuries were reported by any residents or firefighters. The scene was cleared, and firefighters were reporting back for service less than two hours later at 2:30 p.m.
